HBPR Celebrates a Successful NRPA Annual Conference in Philadelphia

The 2026 NRPA Annual Conference in Philadelphia provided an incredible opportunity for Hispanic and Black Professionals in Recreation (HBPR) to connect, collaborate, and celebrate the continued growth of our organization.

Throughout the conference, attendees had the opportunity to participate in engaging educational sessions, learn from outstanding presenters, exchange ideas, and build meaningful relationships with parks and recreation professionals from across the country.

We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to making this year’s conference a success, including the presenters, organizers, volunteers, and professionals who shared their knowledge and experiences.

A special thank you goes to everyone who attended the two educational sessions presented by members of the HBPR Board. Both sessions were well attended and generated thoughtful discussions, valuable connections, and meaningful conversations about the future of our profession and the continued role of HBPR in advancing representation, professional development, and leadership.

One particularly meaningful moment was seeing HBPR recognized as part of NRPA’s history and collaborations. This recognition was a reminder of how far our organization has come and the important contributions of the many individuals who have helped shape its journey. It was especially rewarding to reflect on HBPR’s continued growth, accomplishments, and expanding presence within the national parks and recreation community.

Beyond the educational sessions, the conference provided an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, welcome new professionals into our network, and discuss exciting possibilities for HBPR’s future. We are encouraged by the enthusiasm, ideas, and commitment shared by everyone who participated in these conversations.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support HBPR and contribute to its mission. We look forward to building on this momentum, strengthening our professional community, and continuing the conversations that began in Philadelphia.

We can’t wait to see everyone at the next NRPA Annual Conference in Austin, Texas!
