Tony Salinas
Tony Salinas is a Recreation Supervisor for the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department, where he has dedicated 23 years to enhancing the community through cultural, sports, and educational programs. Currently, Tony supervises the Northeast Division, covering 200 square miles with 68 parks, 6 community centers, and produces the state’s largest special event, The Electric Light Parade.
Tony began his career in 2001, leading Outreach Teen Programs and Phoenix Afterschool Centers. In 2005, he was promoted to Recreation Programmer, serving at Eastlake Park, Luke Krohn & Sidney P. Osborn, and Longview Neighborhood Recreation Centers.
In 2014, Tony advanced to Recreation Coordinator II at the Goelet A.C. Beuf Community Center, where he launched the City’s first Coyote Ball Hockey League. He also supervised the Faye Gray Recreation Center, collaborating with Phoenix Suns Center Alex Len and his Len-D A Hand Foundation to support the South Phoenix communities. Tony played a key role in opening the new Muriel Smith Recreation Center.
In 2017, Tony was promoted to Recreation Coordinator III, where he oversaw the Desert West Community Center and brought in new amenities such as the double Mini Pitch Soccer and Bike Polo courts. He also managed the Holiday Park Recreation Center and co-founded the award-winning PHXteens program. Tony has a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) and Certified Youth Sports Administrator (CYSA) certifications and has presented multiple times at the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association and National Recreation and Parks Association conferences.
A native of the Valley and an avid sports fan, Tony enjoys spending time with family and friends when he’s not at work.
